Corridor Comparison

New Page 1

Following requests, I've done a frequency break down of the Portsmouth section of the new changes. Again I can't promise everything to be correct, as I have no inside knowledge of First Hants & Dorset. I've colour coded the boxes to indicate whether they've stayed level (no change, or +1/-1), improved (at least +2 buses per hour), or decreased (at least -2 buses per hour).

I'll move onto Gosport and Fareham later on next week.

  1. Might be worth mentioning as a background that Stagecoach run some buses in Portsmouth. The 20, 21, 23 & 700. So, some areas may still have a 'reasonable' frequency. For example Southsea - Cosham service 23 is every 10 mins. But I appreciate the chart is for First updated service.

  2. There are losers as well as winners with these changes. As your table shows, some of the links to Southsea will be less frequent - and the Copnor - Southsea service is particularly hard hit. Currently, Copnor has 8 buses an hour (every 6-9 mins) to South Parade Pier and Palmerston Road shops on Services 1,6 and 6A. In future, there will be 2 buses an hour to Palmerston Road on Service 0, and no buses to South Parade. Admittedly, Copnor will have a bus every 10 minutes to Albert Road and Elm Grove on Service 1 - but my guess is that Palmerston Road is a more useful destination for most passengers. (All this assumes that I have understood the new timetables correctly...)
