This week's Sunday Lost Scenes is a bus lost from Southampton...
First Eastern Counties 66126 - S116JTP - Great Yarmouth bus station - 1st August 2012
Firstly, before I begin, apologies for the lack of replies to comments this week - I've been away. I should be addressing these over the next week. I've also not written any posts for about two weeks - all the recent posts have been set on a delay so they would spring up on the correct day. I'll be writing some new material over the coming week.
Today's Sunday Lost Scenes is one of First Southampton's 1998 delivery of Volvo B10BLEs. In 1998, 116-122 were delivered to modernise the fleet and takeover on some routes previously operated by Leyland Lynxes. S116JTP was numerically the first of the batch. It lasted until late 2003/early 2004, when it was whisked off to Bradford. The remainder of the batch remained in service in Southampton, and do until this day. 66126, now as it is numbered, has since moved on to Eastern Counties, as show in the photograph. 66126 is now in Great Yarmouth and is pictured on the 1A to Lowestoft.
I once photographed S116JTP in Hamble in 2003, but unfortunately cannot bring those images to you as they went down with fotopic (part of small batch of photos I unfortunately must have missed in backing up). What I will bring is a comparative view of sister S120JTP, still operating in Southampton today. Maybe 66126 would have gained the famous Southampton black paint if it stayed!
